On 27th December 2015, KDB Public School inaugurated the SON CHIRRAIYA VATIKA in Hathi Park, C Block, Kavinagar. The vatika was previously an undeveloped area in the park which was adopted by the school under the aegis of Disney World FFC Project conducted by CMS India Research House in NCR. The objectives of this project were to provide sparrows a natural habitat, conserve wild gene pool and to spread awareness and educate students about ecological balance.
Members of Friends For Change (FFC) and CMS India Research House, Ex. M.P. Mr. Ramesh Chand Tomar, President RWA Mr. Lalit Jaiswal, Mr A. K. Jain and other community members of RWA were welcomed by the school Principal Mrs Nivedita Rana along with the school authorities and the students to the inauguration ceremony.
The ceremony started off with a vandana to invoke the blessings of god. This was followed by the performance of the school band and a group song by the school choir. Other cultural activities included group dance, yoga and meditation by the students. An art competition organized for classes VI – VIII and XI – XII on the topics “Save Sparrow” and “Save Environment” respectively infused colours in the meaningful afternoon.
The Director of the school Smt Bimla Saini, addressed the gathering and expressed her concern about how essential it is to live in harmony with nature. The chief guest and other speakers in their speeches stressed on the need to work and act towards the ecological challenges and opined that education plays a vital role in meeting them. Later on the Vice Principal of the school Mrs. Namrata Dubey extended the vote of thanks emphasizing on the importance of learning how to live with the other species on this planet. She upheld the view that it is must for us to shift our view from dominance to partnership for the betterment of our mother earth.
