BHARATNATYAM BY RAGINI JI

A never before Lecture Demonstration of Bharatnatyam by the renowned danseuse Ms. Ragini Chandershekhar was witnessed by the Kdbians on November 30 2018. This program was conducted under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, VIRASAT -2018.

 

The auditorium of K.D.B Public School Ghaziabad came alive with the captivating amalgamation of Smt. Ragini Chandershekhar’s Bharatnatyam dance and the rhythmic music by Shri S.Shankar on Nathuvanyam , flute by Shri Rajat Prasanna and the vocal rendition by Shri K. Venkateshwarn and Shri M.V. Chandershekhar.

 

The program which was attended by coordinator SPIC MACAY, Ghaziabad chapter,eminent guests and students of the school began with the traditional lamp lighting and a warm welcome of the chief guest Smt. Ragini ji and the accompanists by the Director, Principal and the Vice Principal of the school.

 

Smt Ragini Chandershekhar in her mesmerizing lecture demonstration on bharatnatyam made the students aware about the history of bharatnatyam as being one of the oldest classical dancers which illustrates anecdotes of Hindu religious themes and spiritual ideas emoted by dance with excellent footwork and impressive mudras.

 

Continuing the amazing demonstration of Bharatnatyam Ragini ji explained the basic rhythm and mudras and struck a chord with the students when they were asked to emulate the different mudras along with her and learnt what they represented.

 

This Lecture Demonstration received tremendous applause from the audience and the awestruck students had a lot of queries which Smt Ragini ji answered with full satisfaction of one and all by sharing interesting facts and valuable points.

 

The Principal, Mrs Nivedita Rana, in her vote of thanks extended her gratitude to SPIC MACAY, for playing an important role to attach people with Indian culture and thanked Smt, Ragini Chandershekhar for the wonderful program which proved to be a learning experience for the students as they gained an insight on the wonders and marvels of this dance from i.e. Bharatnatyam.

 

It being a universal fact that everything and anything which gets started has to come to its natural conclusion and so did this breath taking program, compared by Riya Pandey and Tripti Manral, with the National Anthem.

VIRASAT- Day 1

The  colours of festival lasts long in KDB School. The testimony of this fact was the morning of 23 October 2017 when the programme Spic Macay has become an extension of Diwali celebration with the presence of Madam Saskia Rao De Hass – a virtuoso cellist and composer from Netherlands based in New Delhi-India, her accompanist-Shri Pranshu, the Director , Principal,Vice Principal and Cordinators of the school. Saskia’s contribution to Hindustani classical music through the Indian cello, an instrument fashioned out of the cello  enables Indian music to be acknowleged at international level.Her instrument cello is unique like her art. It has five playing strings and ten sympathetic strings. It is smaller in size than its western counterpart, thus enabling  the player to sit on the floor while playing it. The addition of an extra playing string on a higher octave and the ten sympathetic strings further enriches the tonal quality of the Indian cello. Thus meeting the world fame artist and knowing the special musical instrument was an experience to be remembered for years.

The enchanting morning began with lamp lightening ceremony. It was followed by the welcome of the guest artists Ms. Saskiya Rao De Hass and co-artist  Shri Pranshu .The audience sat awestruck as Madam Rao created a world of ecstasy through her instrument i.e Cello.The day did not only observed the extra ordinary performance but even the lecture related to cello as a musical instrument, its history and significance in the contemporary world called for a unanimous applause. Apart from this the queries of the inquisitive students were very satisfactorily answered by the artists in an interactive session.

The students with endless list of queries related with sufi tradition and qawwali and their significance in the contemporary world were satisfactorily answered by the artist in an unprecedented way.

The host of the programme – Ashima and Vikrant were appreciated by all the guests. The programme ended with national anthem.

VIRASAT- Day 2

The two days programme of Spic Macay concluded on 24th October 2017 in KDB Public School under the title –Virasat -2017. The versatile Odissi dancer Ms. Kavita Dwibedi-the Guest of Honour and the chief performer for the day, is known for her vision and superb abhinaya. Recipient of prestigious Odisha State Sangeet Natak Academy Award, Madam Kavita kept the cultural stage of KDB alive and taught the young learners the minute details of Odissi dance through her lecture cum demonstration in the presence of Ms. Abha Bansal- Coordinator Spic Macay- Ghaziabad chapter, School Director Mrs. Bimla Saini, Principal Mrs. Nividita Rana, Vice Principal Mrs. Namarata Dubey and other distinguished guests.

The Programme was short and crisp. The audience apart from the wonderful performance by Madam Kavita also had the privilege to know about history and relevance of Spic Macay, KDB’s association with this organization, the relevance of art and culture and much more. The lightening of lamp gave an apt start to the programme. The interactive session could satisfy the doubts and queries of the audience.

In her vote of thanks School Principal Mrs. Nivedita Rana emphasized the need to keep the legacy of Indian Traditional Art and Music intact and alive and to transfer the same to the young generation the role of schools has to be redefined. She also felt overwhelmed to see the young generation totally engrossed in the magic of Odissi Dance

The host for the show Vidhi Vashistha and Apoorva Upadhayay could connect the various sessions well. The programme ended with the melodious National anthem.
